SAS Eagle Design

In art, we worked on a design unit focused on variation. We looked at and attempted many different types of media and techniques. This was my final work.

For my eagle based on the principle of design, I decided to create a scratch artwork. I focused this piece on contrast because black and white are perfect contrasting colors. I also focused on rhythm because the different designs I created on the scratch board showed perfect rhythm.

The most challenging part of this assignment was doing my best but also turning it in on time. I did a scratch board last and it took me the longest, I even had to do it at home.

My favorite technique was ombre. I decided to ombre both my eagle and my background. I used colored pencils and I enjoyed it the most because it gave texture, and it was very easy and simple to make!

Cluster One Reflection

1. What are your friendship strengths and challenges?
One friendship strength I have is that I am always there for my friends. If they get hurt or need help, I am always there to help them. A challenge that I have is that when we pair up for something I may boss them round because I always end up being the leader. It may sometimes pull us apart because I act differently than if we were just talking.

2. Explain what you’ve learned about the movement pattern (rotations) and concept (tactics and shots).

I learned that having a good movement pattern doesn't just come to you, you need to practice A LOT before you get the proper movement patterns. For concept, you also need to practice a lot and learn how to control where you hit the ball.

3. What are 2 specific things you’d like to accomplish this year in PE?
a. I would like to be able to control the ball when I play to catch them off-guard to improve my play in the game.

b. I would also like to work on my movement because I feel like by the end of seventh grade I should be able to give my swing or hit with more momentum so that I can better improve my play in the game.

Batting Reflection

One thing I am doing well while I;m batting is that I place my hands the proper way in order to bat. I also lifted the bat off of my shoulders.
One thing I can work on is my trunk rotation. I can also work on "Load"s.

Polygon Reflection

1. The common properties of polygons are multi-sided straight lines, closed (no interception), 2D shapes. Some have more or less sides than others and different angle types. For example, a parallelogram, a hexagon, and a triangle all have no interceptions, straight sides and different angles.
Polygons
2. The measure of degrees in an angle tells me that the angle is acute, right, obtuse or reflex. An acute angle is 1˚ to 89˚ and an obtuse and is 91˚-179˚. 90˚ is a right angle so an acute or obtuse can't be. and an obtuse and can't be 180˚ because that is reflex. Reflex can't be more than 359˚ because 360˚ is a full rotation.
Different angles based on degree
3. Some of the common angles are acute, right and obtuse. They are common because more angles are acute, right or obtuse angles other than a reflex angle which isn't so common.
Common angles
4. Some strategies to estimate angle measures are seeing if it is acute, right or obtuse, See if it is 45˚ or half of 90˚, you can also see if the angle is about 1/3 or 2/3 of 90˚, or 30˚ and 60˚. If the angle is obtuse do the measurement for acute but add 90˚ for the right angle.
Two example: acute and obtuse
5. To find accurate measurements with a protractor, I should first line up the middle variable to a different variable using the line given on the protractor. Then I should use the last variable to middle variable line to see what number the the line is lined up with on the protractor.

Exemplary Question
Write one set of directions to construct a polygon that is satisfied by two shapes.
1. 4 sides
2. All sides are straight
3. All angles are 90˚
4. No intersections
