Semester 1 Reading Fluency
Secure
I did this every time
:)
|
Progressing
I did this some of the time
:|
|
Concern
I forgot to do this
:(
| |
I quickly self-corrected mistakes or omissions.
|
:)
| ||
I read in longer phrases. I did not stop to take a breath where there was no punctuation.
|
:|
| ||
I followed the punctuation signals such as commas and periods.
|
:)
| ||
I read with expression that conveyed meaning.
|
:|
| ||
I read at an appropriate rate, not too fast, not too slow.
|
:)
| ||
I changed my voice when reading narration or dialogue.
|
:|
| ||
I showed that I enjoyed the text, and I read with confidence!
|
:)
|
Kudos (what I did well)
I didn’t read like a robot and I stopped and pause at commas and periods.
Intention (what I need to do to improve and the steps am I going to take to improve)
I need to improve on when I read like a narrator, to read like I’m narrating with feeling and or excitement.

Science Rocks
of stairs then we thought we had to go to the 3rd level so we kept climbing. An IA saw us and said that
we went to far and to turn around. We climbed back down and we passed Albert Einstein climbing a
rope. He was just a giant doll wearing Albert Einstein clothes. We walked along and the IA told us to
turn back around because it was on the 4th floor. We climbed to the 4th floor and we went inside a
science lab where we were going to make the candy. We all took a seat and Miss Jo (Our sort of
science teacher) told us how to do it and gave us the right amounts for the candy making process.
The first candy we made was lollipops. When we got our ingredients the sugar mixed with the water
and corn syrup made a solution because the sugar dissolved in the water. My group made green
lollipops that were lemon flavored. After we boiled our mixture for 10 minutes (To or more materials
mixed together as in water, corn syrup, sugar, food coloring and food flavoring.) we put them in 10
different tins. Everybody in our group would get 2 lollipops. When the lollipops were drying we made
cotton candy. My group's cotton candy machine wasn't working so we split up. I went with Pooja to a
different table and I had a lot of cotton candy. I had blue and green cotton candy. When we were done
with the cotton candy the lollipops were done! They were delicious. I ate both of mine before I got
home from school! The candy making was really fun and if you go there and you try it to I hope you
enjoy!
The exhibits were amazing! They blew me away. They had so many inventions, illusions, and electric
stuff. My favorite illusion was when you crawl through his doorway that had a hole in one of the walls. If
you stick your head through the hole there is a box of mirrors and where your head is there is a ring
around the hole that has fruit on it. There are mirrors that are around the flat part of the table to make it
look like your head is on a plate. Another one had an object on top of a flat surface that looked real but
when you try to pick up you can't because it was just a light inside that reflected off the object to make
it look like it was on top of the flat surface but it really wasn't.
That's all I have to say about the science center. If you ever go there you should try out all the things I
suggested. If you go there you might want to check out the gift shop to. It has pretty amazing stuff.
That's all I have for this blog today so you should definitely check out the science center.

Website Evaluation
The Facts about Dog Island Free Forever
There are no authors that is clear to see on the website but another website said that students made it
for a school project.
There is also no information about the authors anywhere.
Even if it was made by kids there were no spelling errors.
There was no contact information given.
It was www.thedogisland.com/index.html.
You can't find the information anywhere else.
The authors are definitely trying to persuade you to send away your dogs.
The date is 2003-2013. That means it was done more than 6 months ago.
Even if it's a hoax all the links work.
It's not useful and definitely not worth bookmarking.
The text is very easy to read and very easy to look around.
Very few things are useful to students.
I would not because it has barely any information about what the dogs would do there. So I would not
use this website.

iPad Care
We are only going to use it for school work and treat it as if it was our own.
I will use my personnel iPad for leisure.
I am going to give my mom and dad my passwords and I will not download anything without their permission unless I'm being told to do so by my teachers. I will also not give out my private information to friends or strangers.
I'll make sure it is stored on a table or desk but not on the floor.
I can write to friends about school projects but informing my parents first. I will not be writing to strangers.
If I don't follow the rules we will have a conversation about the rules and depending on what I did I could get my leisure electronics taken away for a certain number of days.
